PAX VILLAGE : The South African Police Service in Limpopo is deeply concerned about continuous cases of drowning reported without taking precautionary measures to curb such incidents.
The concern follows the latest incident in which an adult male allegedly drowned at Pax village near Polokwabe over the weekend
Mashashane Police opened inquest case docket following an incident in which a 54 year old male victim reportedly drowned while busy performing his traditional rituals at Pax village dam.
The Police were summoned to a local clinic in Maraba Village Ga-Mashashane where they found the personnel who showed them a male body still wearing traditional regalia laying in the casualty ward. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was performing his traditional rituals at the dam before he drowned.
He was certified dead at the health facility. The deceased was identified by his family as Lesiba Moses Molomo, 54 years old.
The provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe sternly warned residents not to cross, swim or practise their traditional rituals as rivers are flooding after recent heavy rains. There must be supervision when residents are going to these rivers.
