GA-NTATA – A two-room house was set alight by an alleged boyfriend in the Mokwakwaila policing area last night, Saturday, 21 March 2026, at about 21:00.
The house belongs to a mother of four, Maite Mahlaole, whose house had collapsed due to heavy rainfall recently.
The African National Congress (ANC) members had donated her a house, but due to challenges, they could not roof it. Then, the Limpopo Independent Movement Alliance (LIMA) assisted in roofing the house.
The same house, which was built for her through donations, the alleged boyfriend is suspected to have set alight after they had engaged in a heated argument after the boyfriend received pictures of Mahlaole with another male person, believed to be someone she was cheating with.
Mahlaole was left with no option but to go bavk to her mother’s house and reunite.
The suspect is still at large.
Perfect Radio attended the scene around 23h00 and the Police also responded to the scene. An arson case was opened and the police investigations are continuing.
