BREAKING NEWS | ANC WINS POLOKWANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY BY-ELECTIONS

POLOKWANE: The African National Congress (ANC) won the By-Elections by 72% of votes during the By-Elections contested yesterday on 25 February 2026 in Ward 34 of Polokwane Local Municipality, Limpopo Province.

The new ANC Ward Councillor is:

The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Local Government Elections, with 72.02% of the total valid votes cast yesterday. The voter turnout was 39.30% in the ByElection contested yesterday.

Candidate Summary

– Matsikinyane Freddy Makgoba (ANC) received 2394 votes making it 72.02%

– Mamoshabi Annah Swafo (EFF) received 685 votes making it 20.61%

– Stephen Ramohlola (INDEPENDENT) received 159 votes making it 4.78%

– Jerry Lemeku Makgobatha (SACP) received 75 votes making it 2.26%

– Meltonia Mokgatjane Sethosa (OHM) received 5 votes making it 0.15%

– Andrew Mongatane Ragedi (TRUTH) received 3 votes making it 0.09%

Thabang Jean Pierre Mani (UDM) received 3 votes making it 0.09%
