BREAKING NEWS | Community members at Ga-Maphalle are gathered outside a local farm after a man was allegedly shot while hunting in the bushes.
Joseph Machipi, believed to be in his 50s, was hunting alongside two other men on Monday, 19 January 2026, when he was shot by an alleged foreign national security officer of a local farm.
A missing person case was opened, and the police were informed about the shooting incident. Since then, today, Thursday, 22 January 2026, community members have taken it upon themselves to search for him in the nearby farms where he was shot.
However, the Modjadjiskloof police stopped the members from searching since it’s a private land, insisting that the police should be allowed to enter the farm and search. It has been since morning, now 18h00 PM, and the police have not yet started searching.
Community members frustrated as they are still told not to enter the farm. The community believes something is fishy in delaying the search operation and demands justice, requesting to be allowed to search.
