IEC ANNOUNCES THE RESULTS OF BY-ELECTIONS

SOUTH AFRICA : The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) held By-Elections in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

In Gauteng, the Democratic Alliance (DA) won the By-Elections in City of Johannesburg Municipality. Beatrice Aletta Susanna Campbell-Cloete of the Democratic Alliance was elected as the new ward councillor for Ward 102 in the City of Johannesburg Municipality.

In KZN, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) won the By-Elections in Nongoma Municipality. Sibusiso Fortune Ndwandwe of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) is the newly elected Councillor for Ward 17 in the Nongoma Municipality.

In Limpopo, the African National Congress (ANC) took part in the By-Elections and Matsikinyane Freddy Makgoba of the ANC is the newly elected Councillor for Ward 34 in the Polokwane Municipality.
