IEC LIMPOPO CONFIRMS ITS READINESS FOR BY-ELECTIONS IN POLOKWANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY WARD 34

POLOKWANE : Electoral Commission in Limpopo has announced its readiness for the By-election that are expected to take place on Wednesday, 25 February 2026 in Ward 34 of Polokwane Local Municipality.

The Special voting will take place at the voting stations, as well as through home visits on

Tuesday, 24 February 2026 between 08h00 and 17h00.

The ward is made up of seven (7) Voting Districts

(VDs) in the villages of Thune, Mamphaka, Spitzkop, Mentz Badimong, Monyonaneng,

Makgopheng and Komaneng respectively.

The Voting Stations will open at 07h00 and

close at 19h00 on Wednesday, 25 February 2025.

The current registration figures in

the ward are 8 826 voters. The vacancy occurred due to the death of the Ward

Councillor.

The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress (ANC). In terms of section 25(3) of the Municipal Structures Act — the Municipal Manager declared the vacancy on 09 December 2025.
