MAMPHAKHATHI COMMUNITY PROTEST FOR ELECTRICITY FOLLOWING EXPLOSION OF TRANSFORMER

GA-MAMPHAKHATHI – A community protest is underway this morning, Monday, 02 February 2026 at Mamphakhathi Village ward 08 in Greater Letaba Municipality.

Residents have taken to the streets after being without electricity for 3 days now, following a damaged transformer.

They allege that Eskom representatives have repaired the transformer multiple times but it continues to be damaged repeatedly.

The police are monitoring the situation as ward Councillor Simon Maake is addressing the matter.
