ONE DEAD AND OTHERS FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIFES IN TWO SEPARATE DOMESTIC RELATED INCIDENTS IN LIMPOPO

LIMPOPO – The police says they are investigating two domestic related incidents that occurred at separate locations under Mopani and Sekhukhune Districts on Tuesday 07 April 2026.
According to the information obtained from the police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba states that in Wisani village under Ritavi policing area, Mopani District, a 48-year-old female victim, was allegedly shot by her husband aged 53 following an argument at their home at about 05:30. The Police received a call from a hospital about a woman who was shot with a firearm.
Upon arrival, they found the victim with two gunshot wounds to the stomach. Further investigations revealed that the victim was shot by her husband following a heated argument.
The suspect was ultimately traced and arrested at Wisani village and he is expected to appear before Giyani Magistrate Court soon, facing a charge of attempted murder. The firearm used in the attack is still at missing .
In Ga-Maila Segolo village, Sekhukhune District, a 50-year-old male was killed after a fight with his wife and her family in the early hours at about 01:00. The deceased was visiting his wife’s homestead and it appeared a violent altercation ensured , during which he attacked his wife, their three year-old daughter, and his 70-year-old father-in-law with a sharp object.
The father-in-law defended himself and fatally injured the attacker, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the members of Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
The victims are receiving medical attention for their injuries at the local hospital. Three counts of attempted murder, as well as a case of murder are under investigation.
“We are deeply saddened by these incidents, and our thoughts are with the victims and their families. We urge people struggling in their relationships and having domestic related challenges to seek assistance from Social workers , Psychologists , other Professionals and Traditional Authorities.
We as the police will do everything in our power to prevent, investigate and combat crime with a view to ensure justice is served” , said the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
Police investigations are continuing.
