POLICE ARRESTS FOUR SUSPECTS FOR STOCK THEFT RELATED CHARGES AT SEPARATE LOCATIONS IN VHEMBE DISTRICT

VHEMBE : Four suspects aged between 33 and 53 comprising of two males and two females were apprehended at separate locations in connection with stock theft related charges that were committed at Musina and Mphephu policing areas under Vhembe District.
The Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba state that on Wednesday, 07 January 2026, an intelligence driven operation was conducted by Musina Crime Prevention jointly with Musina Detectives after receiving positive information regarding the whereabouts of suspects who were suspected to be in possession of stolen property (cattle meat) in the policing area.
Police drove to Matswale Phase 1 Section to an identified residence and found a foreign female national.
The house was thoroughly searched after she granted them permission and the police discovered cattle meat with an estimated street value of R25.000 inside a deep freeze refrigerator. A 53 year-old Zimbabwean National was asked about its origin but she failed to provide a satisfactory response and was placed under an arrest at the scene for possession of suspected stolen property.
The suspect was also found with a 33 year-old male suspect who was allegedly transporting the meat and he was also placed under an arrest. A 33 year-old male informed the police that he sold another meat to a foreign National at Mtshongoville Section.
Police rushed to Mtshongoville Section at Robert Sobukwe street and found another female foreign national who was also asked to search the house. During the search, police discovered cattle meat with an estimated value of R5000,00 inside a refrigerator.
A 41 year-old Zimbabwean National was immediately arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.
Furthermore, a 33 year-old male suspect was apprehended for possession of wild animal or carcass without necessary documentation while at Nzhelele Tshirolwe bus stop under Mphephu policing precinct on Tuesday 06 January 2026 at about 12:00.
Police were busy with patrol duties when a member of the public informed them about a male suspect wearing a short trouser with a mustard T- shirt in possession of a mealie bag that contained suspicious objects at a bus stop.
They proceeded to the vicinity and positively identified him and asked to show them what was inside the sack and he complied. Police discovered four horns of an Eilland wild animals, a skull of a baboon and a tail.
He was asked to produce documentation that authorised him to be in possession of the items but failed and a 33 year-old male was nabbed for possession of wild animal without necessary documentation.
The suspect appeared before the Dzanani Magistrate court on Wednesday 07 January 2026 facing a stock theft charge and was remanded in police custody and his case was remanded to Friday 09 January 2026.
The other three suspects appeared before the Musina Magistrate court on Thursday, 08 January 2026 facing a charge of stock theft.
The trio were each granted R1500.00 bail and will appear at the same court on 03 March 2026.
Police investigations are continuing.
