SAPS FLYING SQUAD ARRESTS TWO MALE SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF ILLICIT CIGARETTES AND BRIBERY

SEBAYENG: The members of Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad nabbed two male suspects both aged 26 for alleged possession of illicit cigarettes and bribery on police at Sebayeng policing area on Saturday 28 February 2026.
The Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the police were on patrol duties in the area when they came across a red Kwid motor vehicle parked under the tree along the road. They stopped and approached 26 year-old male suspect and asked permission to search the motor vehicle.
It was granted, and police discovered that the motor vehicle was fully loaded with illicit cigarettes, and he was immediately placed under an arrest.
While at the scene, a 26 year-old male approached the police and offered them cash in exchange to release his friend and vehicle. He was cautioned not to bribe and interfere with official police duties, but he insisted, and he was also placed under arrest for bribery on police of R4000,00.
During the arrest, police seized the illicit cigarettes valued at sixty thousand rands (R60.000) and the motor vehicle used in the commission of the crime.
The two male suspects suspect will appear before the Mankweng Magistrate court on Monday 02 March, 2026, facing a charge of possession of illicit cigarettes and bribery on police.
Police investigations are continuing.
