POLOKWANE | The South African Police Services (SAPS) in Limpopo, led by Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, together with the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, released the Fourth Quarter Crime Statistics for the 2025/2026 financial year in Polokwane on 27 May 2026.
The statistics show a decrease in several serious crimes across the province during the period under review. Limpopo continues to be one of the safest provinces in South Africa.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said the decline in crime was made possible through intelligence driven operations, Operation Shanela, increased police visibility in crime hotspots, stronger investigations, and cooperation between police, law enforcement agencies, and communities.
She urged communities to continue working with police by reporting crime, protecting vulnerable groups and rejecting criminal activities.
MEC Violet Mathye thanked Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe for her 40 years of dedicated service and leadership in policing, noting that this was her final Crime Statistics presentation before retirement.
