SON OF A FARM WORKER CREATES DIGITAL PLARTFORM TO ASSIST LEARNERS IN LIMPOPO AND ACROSS THE WORLD

GA-NTATA: Samuel Sithole, 30-year-old teacher created a well organized and helpful digital platform to help learners and educators with teaching and learning support materials.

Samuel Sithole was born and raised by farm workers in Limpopo at Mohale Farming in Mamokgadi Village. Being raised by farm workers and home background have not hindered him to attend school. He attended primary at Mamokgadi primary school and secondary at Khathola High School. He is well known as the best learner in 2011 grade 12 and the best learner in Mathematical Literacy at Mamaila circuit.

Sithole passed his matric well with bachelors. In 2012 he registered Bachelor of Education at University of Limpopo unfortunately he did not manage to finish and hold his degree in record time due to financial exclusion; he dropped out in 2014.

He went back to University of Limpopo to pursue his degree in 2015. He managed to complete his degree in 2016.

In 2017 he was employed by Limpopo Department of Education as an educator at Motjedi Secondary school.

In 2019 and 2021 he was awarded Top 3 NTA ICT Excellence Certificate and trophy. Currently Sithole is registered Bachelor of Education Honours in Education Management student at University of Limpopo.

He is part of provincial ICT Strategic planning team and Sekhunene South District Assessment Committee Team. He coordinated learning lessons in ThabaNtsho Community Radio since 2018-2020.

Sithole is also participating in many committees at Motjedi high school; some are as follows: ICT Committee since 2018 to date. Health, Safety and Security 2018 to date. Co-opted School Management Team Member 2020 to date. SGB Member School Treasurer since 2018 to date. Teacher Lioson officer since 2018 to 2022. Sepedi District Assessment Committee since 2018. Molototsi Circuit Grade 12 Mathematical literacy tutor since 2013 to 2018.

Recently, Sithole created SirSammy Education Trust on 18 April 2022. “The aim I created Sirsammy Education Trust is to make teaching and learning support materials available for both educators and learners to improve grade 12 results. Currently I am benefiting nothing from Sir Sammy Education Trust, but it gives me more advantage as I entered National Teaching Awards competition” said Samuel Sithole.
