THE COMMUNITY OF MAPHALLE PIPA VILLAGE UNITED TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE HERITAGE

MAPHALLE PIPA VILLAGE – The community of Maphalle Pipa gathered together at the Tribal House under the leadership of Chief Modika Phetole Steve, on Saturday the 27th of September 2025 to celebrate Heritage, in honour of different cultures, traditions and values that define the community’s shared identity.

This event brought together people of all ages, to showcase the richness of heritage through traditional music, dance, traditional wear and drama to narrate what has been happening in the past.

The community leaders warmly welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of preserving cultural roots while embracing unity. The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter and a revived commitment towards celebrating diversity as a source of strength.

The celebration was filled with a line up of various performances from the old women sekgapa dance, Pipa Primary School sekgapa and seshweshwe dance, tša manyalo, segubu and a drama narrated by the elders to share stories that reminded the youth of their history, values and customs. There was also a display of traditional dishes including indigenous materials or tools such as lanterns.

This event reminded everyone that heritage is not just about the past, but a link to the future that ensures that traditions remain alive while fostering unity in diversity.
