MOKWAKWAILA | The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture hosted the Mapungubwe Music Festival today on Saturday, 11 October 2025, at the Mokwakwaila Community Hall. The event brought together people from Mokwakwaila, Mamanyoha, and Sekgosese for a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity.
The festival featured a wide range of activities, including music, drama, poetry, fashion and design, film and video, comedy, traditional dances, exhibitions, and beadwork. The atmosphere was filled with joy and pride, as many attendees dressed in their beautiful traditional attires to honor their diverse cultural heritage.
The traditional dance performances captivated the audience and showcased the richness of local culture. Councilor Modika expressed great admiration for the young girls who participated in the dances, as well as the elderly participants who proudly showcased dances such as Sekgapa and Xibelani.
The festival also served as a build-up event to the main Mapungubwe Arts Festival, which will take place on 13 December 2025 at the Limpopo Cricket Club in Polokwane.
