THE MAAKE FAMILY HAS REVEALED THE IDENTITY OF THE DECEASED TEENAGE BOY WHO DROWNED IN A LOCAL DAM AT GA-MAUPA

UPDATE | The Maake family has revealed the identity of the deceased teenage boy who lost his life in a drowning incident at a local dam created during stone mining at Ga-Maupa.

 

The incident occurred at about 16h00 on Thursday, 05 February 2026. His body was retrieved by police search and rescue members the following day on Friday, 06 February 2026.

 

The deceased’s name is Kabelo Maake, a grade 11 learner at Mmaba Secondary School, born on 19 July 2008. He will be laid to rest on Saturday, 14 February 2026, at Ga-Maupa, next to the local sports ground, from 06h30.
