MOOKETSI | The Sekgopo Matsorang Foundation, together with community members from Ga-Sekgopo, visited Boekenhoutbult at ZZ2 Farm yesterday on Friday, 13 February 2026, to honour key stakeholders who have played a significant role in transforming the lives of local villagers. Certificates and trophies were presented as tokens of appreciation for the impactful work being done within the community.
Qhubeka was recognised for its generous donation of nearly 500 bicycles to learners in the Ga-Sekgopo area. For years, many learners travelled long distances to school on foot, often arriving late and exhausted. Through the bicycle programme, school attendance has improved, punctuality has increased, and learners are now able to focus better on their studies.
The Foundation presented Qhubeka with a Certificate of Appreciation and a trophy in recognition of its commitment to empowering rural learners. The Foundation also acknowledged the important role played by ZZ2 Farm in introducing Qhubeka to the community, ensuring that the bicycle initiative reached those who needed it most.
Beyond educational support, the Foundation highlighted improvements in service delivery within the village. Through collaboration with ZZ2 Farm management, job opportunities were created for local residents, helping to reduce unemployment. Electricity challenges previously experienced by the Ga-Sekgopo community were also addressed, demonstrating the importance of private sector involvement in supporting and uplifting communities.
The Sekgopo Matsorang Foundation further recognised academic excellence by awarding Rakwadu 2 Circuit for its outstanding performance in the previous year’s matric results. The circuit demonstrated significant improvement and achieved commendable pass rates. Teachers and circuit officials were honoured for their dedication and hard work in improving educational outcomes.
The Foundation emphasised that this initiative marks the beginning of strengthened partnerships aimed at promoting development, education, and sustainable community growth. The awards served as a reminder that meaningful and lasting transformation becomes possible when private sector organisations and communities work together.
Our news reporters, Sinah Phaladi and Thabile Mokhobi attended and covered the event.
