POLOKWANE– A lifeless body of an unknown man was discovered at the corner of Staal and River Streets in Ladanna during the early hours of Saturday morning in Westenburg policing area.
The spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba reports that the police responded to a complaint at approximately 07:05 regarding a person allegedly stuck between two mini electrical substations. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of an unknown African male, believed to be middle-aged, trapped between the two substations. The deceased’s upper body was found underneath one substation, facing downwards, while the lower body was positioned beneath the adjacent substation.
Preliminary observations revealed that three electrical cables had been cut underneath the substation where the lower part of the body was located. A bolt cutter and a pair of gloves were also found next to the body. The deceased sustained a visible injury to the middle of the back.
All relevant stakeholders were summoned to the scene for further investigation and processing. The identity of the deceased is still unknown at this stage.
An inquest docket has been opened, and police investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
