URGENT SEARCH LAUNCHED FOR MAN WHO DISAPPEARED NEAR NANDONI DAM IN THOHOYANDOU

THOHOYANDOU – Police in Thohoyandou under the Vhembe District have launched an urgent search operation for a missing 34-year-old man, Tondani Lithole, from Ngovhela (Maembeni) Village, who disappeared on Monday, 24 November 2025.
According to the available information, the victim allegedly left home at around 14:00 and informed his mother that he would return shortly. At approximately 15:00, he sent a voice message to his family, indicating where they could find him. Later, at about 17:00, he sent another message to the family WhatsApp group, which included a video clip and a location pin pointing to the Nandoni Dam area.
This was the last communication he had with his family, and his cellphone has since been switched off.
Following the report, the SAPS K9 Search and Rescue Unit and all relevant role players were immediately activated. Search efforts are ongoing, and investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in locating Tondani Lithole to urgently contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Rembuluwani Nekhavhambe, on 071 511 1213, or report to the nearest police station. Information may also be shared anonymously via the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the My SAPS App.
