MEC Violet Mathye Hands Over More Than 85 Bicycles to Schools in Bolobedu

BOLOBEDU TODAY | The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 handed over a total of 85 Shovakalula bicycles to learners in Mopani. The morning began at Pulane Secondary School in Block 05 Village where 55 bicycles were handed over to identified learners. MEC Mathye then proceeded to Makobo Secondary School in Ga Wale to deliver 30 more bicycles. She was joined by Acting HoD Paul Mainganyi and Cllr Maunatlala of Greater Tzaneen Municipality at both events. MEC Mathye said the Shovakalula Bicycle Project is aimed at reducing the distance learners walk, improving safety on the roads, and ensuring that learners arrive at school on time and ready to learn. Learners who received bicycles thanked the department, saying the intervention will make their daily journey to school safer and faster. The department continues to work with schools and communities to ensure every child has access to safe and dignified scholar transport.
