MADIBENG VILLAGE | Community members in Madibeng Village, Ward 06 under the Greater Letaba Municipality, filled potholes with soil on the D3180 road on Thursday, 14 May 2026. This was done in an effort to improve road conditions and reduce damage to vehicles, especially minibusses.
The residents say they were motivated to act after noticing the worsening condition of the potholes on the Mokwakwaila to Kgapane road. They allege that they became worse following heavy rainfalls. They also claimed that potholes repaired do not last and urged the government to appoint contractors who deliver quality work.
They used soil to fill the potholes and barricaded working areas using road cones donated by the Bolobedu United Taxi Association (BUTA).
Residents say they are only asking the municipality to donate proper soil so they can continue repairing the road and improve conditions for motorists.
