GA-FEMANE | The Branch General Meeting (BGM) scheduled for the announcement of the Ward 21 councillor candidate results, held at Femane Primary School voting station on Friday, 19 June 2026, has failed to proceed following disruptions by the ward members.
A portion of angry ward members alleges that there may have been foul play in the handling of election results.
Their frustration is a result of the delay in the start of the meeting. According to the residents, the meeting was scheduled to begin at 14H00 pm, but proceedings only started at around 17H00 pm after attendees had spent hours waiting outside the gate. Community members were required to undergo a scanning process without lights and be called individually by name before being allowed entry. During the wait, some residents complained that certain villages in the ward were being prioritised over others, a situation that further fuelled tensions and contributed to the disruption of the meeting.
The situation became tense as community members continued to express dissatisfaction with the process, which resulted in the voting station premises being locked.
