This marks the commencement of a key infrastructure development aimed at improving access and connectivity for the Mavele community.
The project has been awarded to Mncobela Trading Enterprise, with Uranus Consulting Engineers serving as the consulting engineers. Construction is scheduled to commence immediately and is expected to be completed within eight months, from 16 July 2026 to 16 March 2027.
The scope of the project includes site establishment, accommodation of traffic, site clearance, mass earthworks, installation of rectangular portal culverts, gabions and stone pitching, as well as the installation of road signage.
In addition to improving infrastructure, the project will create employment opportunities for local residents through the appointment of a Community Liaison Officer (CLO), a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Representative, and general labourers.
Addressing community members during the handover ceremony, Mayor Ngobeni said the municipality will continue working hard to improve infrastructure across Greater Tzaneen.
“This project shows that we are serious about improving roads and making it easier for our communities to travel safely. We will keep a close eye on the work to make sure it is done properly, meets the required standards, and is completed on time,” said Mayor Ngobeni.
