NEWS BULLETIN | POLICE RECOVER SEVEN CATTLE SUSPECTED TO BE STOLEN AT ROEDTAN AUCTION

MOKOPANE | The South African Police Service in Limpopo recovered the seven cattle during an intelligence-driven operation at an auction in the Roedtan policing area, in the Waterberg District, on Thursday, 10 September 2026.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says members of the Polokwane Stock Theft Unit acted on intelligence regarding suspected stolen cattle that were allegedly going to be sold at Andre Kock Auction in Roedtan.

Upon arrival, police identified and recovered the seven cattle. The cattle have been impounded and are currently being kept at the Mokopane SPCA pending further investigation and identification by their lawful owners.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, has welcomed the recovery of seven cattle suspected to be stolen, praising the good working relationship between police, community structures and other law enforcement agencies.

The suspect linked to the cattle has not yet been arrested. Police investigations are continuing.

The SAPS is appealing to anyone with information that could assist in identifying and locating the suspect to come forward.

Livestock owners who may have lost cattle are urged to contact the investigating officer, Constable Phelma Madilindi of the Polokwane Stock Theft Unit on 060 906 2971, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or their nearest police station.

The Provincial Commissioner applauded the Stock Theft Unit for their alertness and swift response and encouraged the public to report suspected livestock theft and any suspicious sale or transportation of cattle.
