N1 ROAD COMPLETELY CLOSES FOLLOWING TWEEFONTEIN CRASH

Motorists are advised of a complete road closure on the N1 near Tweefontein, Polokwane, due to an active accident scene involving a light delivery vehicle and a sedan this evening of Sunday, 17 May 2026 at about 20h40

The N1 is completely closed in both directions at the scene. Delays are expected.

Motorists travelling from Botlokwa towards Polokwane: Turn left into Solomonddale Road and proceed straight until the BP Garage on the R81. Turn right onto the R81 towards Polokwane.

Motorists travelling from Polokwane towards Botlokwa: Use Munik Street from Grobler Street, pass the Mall of the North on the R81, and turn left near the BP Garage at Solomonddale. Proceed to rejoin the N1 towards Botlokwa.

Traffic Officers, EMS, SAPS, and Fire Services are on scene managing the incident.

Preliminary reports indicate the possible cause of the accident was an unsafe U-turn.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution, follow directions from officers on site, and avoid the affected area where possible.
