NKOWANKOWA | Meet Vutivi Makhubele a dedicated communications professional, author at heart, and founder of the upcoming Boss Mom Foundation, born and raised in Nkowankowa by both her parents. She is an introvert by nature, values peace, meaningful connections, and personal growth. Deeply family-oriented, she spends much of her time reflecting, learning, and striving to become the best version of herself.

As the youngest child in her family, she grew up feeling secure, loved, and supported. She recalls a childhood filled with encouragement to pursue her passions and embrace who she truly is. She found joy in literature activities and school competitions, where her talent for storytelling began to shine. Although she did not grow up with everything she wanted, she says she was blessed with all the love she needed to enjoy a happy and safe childhood. Her parents remain her greatest inspiration, as they taught her strength, grace, and perseverance.

She holds a Degree in Media Studies from the University of Limpopo and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Integrated Organisational Communication from the University of South Africa. Her professional journey began in 2010 when she joined Greater Tzaneen Municipality as a Communications Officer. Through dedication and consistent hard work, she was promoted to Senior Communications Officer in 2025.

She says her love for literature and storytelling inspired her career path. What started as journaling personal experiences later grew into writing stories and poetry. With an imaginative and inquisitive mind, her teachers recognised her potential early and encouraged her to pursue a future in media and communications. She believes her journey has been guided by faith in God, who placed her in spaces where she could grow, learn, and thrive.

Like many successful people, her path was not without challenges. She shares that one of her greatest struggles has been overcoming fear, procrastination, and self-doubt while striving to reach her full potential. However, she has continued to rise above these obstacles. One of her proudest achievements includes being promoted in her career and receiving the Most Creative Employee Award at the Greater Tzaneen Municipality Employee Awards in 2025. She says this recognition confirmed that fifteen years of hard work had paid off.

Describing herself as peaceful, humble, humorous, adventurous, and guided by faith, she values calm environments and avoids unnecessary conflict. She enjoys reading biographies, memoirs, fiction, and self-help books, as well as journaling her personal experiences. She is also passionate about travelling, hiking, and participating in marathons, activities she says help build resilience, endurance, and spiritual balance.

She says what motivates her daily is the belief that there is more to life than what she currently sees. She is driven by the desire to explore the world, pursue her dreams, uplift others, and create a stable and progressive future for her daughter. Her biggest value is kindness, shaped by the compassion she received from others during difficult times. She believes kindness is something meaningful no one can ever take away.

Beyond her career, she is passionate about giving back to the community. In 2019, she started an initiative that donates baby essentials to unemployed mothers with newborn babies. She is now working towards expanding the initiative into a non-profit organisation called the Boss Mom Foundation, which aims to address poverty, gender-based violence, and educational challenges. The official launch is expected this year.

She shared words of encouragement for others by saying, “Failure is not the end, it is often redirection. Keep working, believe in yourself, stay consistent, trust God, and what is meant for you will find its way.” She hopes to inspire others by leaving a positive impact and making people feel good about themselves wherever she goes.
