A RISING PHOTOGRAPHER AND FOUNDER OF ,SHOOT WITH US CAPTURING MEMORIES ALL OVER SOUTH AFRICA

GA-MOKGWATHI – Meet Thabiso Matjila, 25 years of age, is a photographer and founder of “shoot with us”.Born and bred in Ga-Mokgwathi Village, Block 11 and now based in Turfloop fulltime, started his photography journey in 2018 while he was a student at Pentagon College. It started with only taking random pictures of other students from the University of Limpopo and Pentagon College and sometimes visiting their homes to capture their moments and memories when invited. Over a period of time ,Thabiso’s love for photography grew and he ventured into event photography.

Thabiso said he has always enjoyed taking pictures when growing up. His passion and actual love for photography began in High School when he would take pictures on his way to school and at school using a borrowed phone. He also said that he was inspired by a man from his village who owned a camera and looked up to him.

Thabiso says, “My dream is to own my own studio. Right now I am focusing on building one at my home.” he said that most of his photography is done outdoors because he does not own a studio as yet, he also travels anywhere around the country to cover events . So far, the longest distance he has travelled for work includes places like Cape Town, North West, Pretoria, and Eswatini. He adds that he would like to go international one day, especially to Paris and Dubai.

His biggest shoot so far was in Cape Town where he was hired for a special outing where they even booked a flight for him. He also shared that one day he hopes to collaborate with other photographers like “Let’s shoot with Adolph” and “Kat Photography service”. “Naming my brand, I wanted something unique and decided not to use my own name ,hence “Shoot with us”. He does not do all the work alone but with his wonderful team.

Thabiso shared a little advice for beginners in photography by saying, “Don’t just take pictures for fun ,take them to keep memories that will stay even in years to come from now.” He believes that passion matters in photography and encourages beginners to stay committed and take their work seriously.
