POLOKWANE | Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) held the 2026 Local Government Elections (LGE) Provincial Code of Conduct signing ceremony at The Ranch Resort in Polokwane on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.
The ceremony brought together representatives of various political parties contesting for the upcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for 4 November 2026.
The purpose of the gathering was for all contesting parties to pledge in upholding free, fair and credible elections, as the Code binds parties or independent candidates to refrain from any form of intimidation, violence and to allow all contestants to campaign freely across the province.
Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Commissioner Mosotho Moepya stated that the Code forbids any candidate or party from using undue influence, coercion or intimidation and violations of the code will trigger severe judicial consequences through the Electoral court.
