LIMPOPO PREMIER RAMATHUBA ANNOUNCES MAJOR CABINET RESHUFFLE

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has reconstituted the Provincial Executive Council, in the first major reshuffle since the start of the 7th administration in July 2024.

The announcement was made this morning, Tuesday, 02 September 2026, following what the Premier described as a rigorous performance assessment informed by residents’ feedback and lived experiences.

Ramathuba said the decision was aimed at improving operational efficiency and accelerating service delivery.

“Each member of the previous Executive Council has worked tirelessly to advance the ideals and goals of this administration. I extend my sincere gratitude to those who have served with dedication,” she said.

“However, as a government, we must constantly evaluate our progress. There is always room for improvement and to better serve our people, we must ensure our team is agile, focused and ready to meet the evolving demands of our province.”

The Premier acknowledged structural challenges facing the province, including high unemployment, poverty and poor access to basic services, and challenged the new Executive to treat these as urgent mandates.

“To the new Executive Council, I reiterate: the people of Limpopo are watching and they are waiting for results,” she said.

The newly appointed MECs were sworn in this morning.

The new Limpopo Executive Council is as follows:

– Agriculture and Rural Development: Mr Basikopo Makamu

– Education: Ms Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya

– Social Development: Ms Florence Radzilani

– Transport and Community Safety: Ms Nakedi Kekana

– Economic Development, Environment and Tourism: Dr Tshitereke Matibe

– Finance: Mr Kgabo Mahoai

– Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure: Mr Ernest Rachoene

– Sport, Arts and Culture: Ms Constance Kupa-Mabuza

– Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs: Mr Pule Shayi

– Health: Mr Eddie Maila
