MASHISHIMALE HERITAGE DAY CELEBRATION HELD AT MASHISHIMALE CULTURAL VILLAGE.

GA-MASHISHIMALE | The Shayi Royal Family successfully hosted a heritage day celebration at Mashishimale cultural Village today on Saturday, 26 September 2026.

The event was attended by Limpopo Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA) MEC Honourable Pule Shayi, Mopani District Executive Mayor Cllr Dagma Mamanyoha, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor Her Worship Mayor Councillor Merriam Malatji, traditional leaders and various cultural groups.

Cultural groups such as khekhabha and dinaka graced the floor with their performances and traditional food like pap, mopani worms, morogo and samp were presented to the public.

The aim of the gathering was to celebrate the Mashishimale heritage and also to educate the community about the importance of preserving their culture and roots.

Limpopo MEC of COGHSTA Pule Shayi has stated that we should not abandon our culture and that it is important that we preserve and pass our heritage to the next generation. He also added that it is very important that we know and be proud of our native languages as they form the basis of our identity.

Her Majesty Kgoshigadi Moshibutjana Audrey Shayi has emphasized on the importance of celebrating our heritage and honoring our culture and roots.
