BOLOBEDU SOUTH | Police in Tzaneen are investigating an inquest case following the discovery of the body of missing teenager Ntshuxeko Mhlongo in a lake at Relela Village, Bolobedu South, on Monday, 07 September 2026.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says Mhlongo was reported missing by his family on Thursday, 03 September 2026, after he failed to return home from Fobeni High School in Thapane Village.
It is alleged that on the same day, the learner was chased by a group of approximately ten boys while on his way home from school. He subsequently disappeared.
A search and rescue team was mobilised and his body was found in a lake during search operations. His family positively identified him.
Colonel Ledwaba says all relevant stakeholders were summoned to the scene and the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated under an inquest docket. Police investigations are ongoing.
