PRUDENCE SEKGODISO CROWNED SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR AT SA SPORT AWARDS

SUN CITY – Middle-distance star Prudence Sekgodiso has been named Sportswoman of the Year at the 19th Annual South African Sport Awards held at Sun City.

The top national honour comes after her historic gold medal performance in the 800m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships earlier this year – a triumph that put South Africa back on top of the world in middle-distance running.

The Medingen village-born athlete, raised in Limpopo, beat a strong field of contenders to claim the prestigious title at the country’s premier sports awards ceremony.

She ran. She fought. She conquered.

Sekgodiso’s journey from a small village to world champion and now national Sportswoman of the Year continues to inspire a nation, particularly young girls in rural communities who see her as proof that greatness knows no boundaries.
