RAMAROKA COMMUNITY MEETS WITH VOLTALIA OVER UNFULFILLED COMMITMENTS

RAMAROKA VILLAGE | Community members at Ga-Ramaroka in Ward 21 under the Greater Letaba Municipality met with representatives from Voltalia to raise concerns over several commitments which the company have not yet fulfilled today on Tuesday 25 August 2026.

The meeting brought together community leaders, residents and Voltalia officials, providing a platform for residents to raise their concerns and seek clarity on outstanding commitments.

Voltalia was represented by its manager, Mr Wayne Carolus and the Community Liaison Officer (CLO), Ms Mokgadi Maenetja.

Community members raised concerns about delays in implementing initiatives that were promised to improve the socio-economic conditions of residents.

Among the key issues raised was a request for assistance with the construction of a local library. Residents also called for support in addressing ongoing electricity and water shortages in the area.

The community further requested that the grass cut from Voltalia’s project site, be made available to local livestock owners to use it as animal feed.

Residents also expressed their concerns in benefiting directly from the electricity generated by the solar panels installed in the village. They said that, as the host community, they should receive tangible benefits from the project.

The community called on Voltalia to honour its initial commitments, including creating permanent employment opportunities for local residents and upgrading roads in the area, particularly through the construction of tarred roads to improve accessibility.

In response to the concerns, Mr Carolus acknowledged the issues raised and committed to reviewing the outstanding matters. He assured residents that their concerns would be considered and that further engagements would take place to identify sustainable solutions.

Community leaders stressed the importance of continued engagement, accountability and regular feedback. They called for clear timelines to ensure that the company’s commitments are implemented.

The meeting was regarded as an important step towards strengthening relations between the Ramaroka community and Voltalia, with both parties demonstrating the need for cooperation to promote sustainable development in the area.
