GA-SEKGOPO | The Sekgopo Traditional Council successfully hosted the Sekgopo Education Awards Ceremony for the class of 2025 from the four High Schools in the area namely Mameriri Secondary School, Kgolakaleleme Secondary School, Mohumi Secondary School and Motshuedi Secondary School. The ceremony was held at Sekgopo Primary School in Mošate Village on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
The event served as recognition of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by learners, educators, school management teams and parents in achieving quality educational outcomes. It also highlighted the importance of collaboration between schools, government institutions and traditional leadership in supporting learner success and improving educational standards within the community.
Among the key stakeholders who attended the ceremony were representatives from the Department of Education in Mopani West District, Mopani District Municipality, SAPS, the Department of Health, the Department of Social Development, SERDA, Smart Start, CONTRALESA, the House of Traditional Leaders and the Office of Her Majesty the Rain Queen, Masalanabo Modjadji VII.
The gathering was further graced by Chief Whip Cllr Rosina Ramalatso and Madam Speaker Cllr Maria Mokgwathi from Greater Letaba Municipality, Rakwadu 2 Circuit Manager Mr Motloutsi, Hosi Hlaniki, Hosi Makuleke, Kgoshigadi Raphahlelo and Kgoshigadi Sekgopo M.J.
Awards were presented to best-performing learners, schools with outstanding academic performance, schools achieving quality results and the best learner in Ga-Sekgopo.
Mameriri Secondary School was recognised as the top-performing school in Ga-Sekgopo and also received an award for achieving the best quality results. Kgolakaleleme Secondary School secured second position, followed by Mohumi Secondary School in third position and Motshuedi Secondary School in fourth position. Mohumi Secondary School was further honoured as the Most Improved School after recording an improvement of 11.5%, while its principal, Principal Sekgota, was recognised as the Most Improved Principal. Principal Mbombi of Mameriri Secondary School received an award for Best Principal in the entire Sekgopo area as well.
The Modjadjiskloof SAPS was honoured with the Best Policing in Education Award for its commitment to safeguarding learners during examinations and ensuring that the learning environment is safe. Special appreciation awards were also presented to everyone who contributed towards educational development in Ga-Sekgopo.
The class of 2026 was encouraged to remain focused on their studies and continue striving for excellence. Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to working together to improve educational outcomes and create opportunities for learners to achieve their academic goals.
